Envision Solar, which is a solar design, planning and architecture specialist, said the new partnership would help companies incorporate large-scale solar systems into new or existing buildings.
The team will provide financing options that will mean there is no need for major upfront investment from the customer.
Envision Solar offers building-integrated solar systems including arrays designed to cover parking lots and systems built into the structure of buildings.
It has provided systems for customers including Dell, Kyocera, Centocor and the University of California among others.
Bob Noble, CEO of Envision Solar, said more developers and property owners were now incorporating environmentally friendly features into the design of commercial and light industrial projects.
He said of the partnership with GRID Solar: “It opens the door to owners who want to build or enhance a shopping mall, industrial park, medical center, parking lot or other development to realize the potential of clean energy and also makes the green investment financially highly attractive.”
GRID Solar, which is part of Los Angeles-based building energy consultancy GRID Partners, provides a range of consultancy, installation and financial services for major commercial and industrial developments.
Dr David Kanani, principal of GRID Solar, said: “With solar energy generation being an increasingly more important – and mandated – feature of new developments, we need partners with a history of market leadership and vision.”
“We are delighted to partner with Envision Solar to bring its cutting-edge technology to our clients. With a seasoned senior team and number of high-profile wins to its name, Envision Solar was an obvious choice for us,” added Dr Kanani.
