40% car buyers unsure of electric vehicle technology

May 5, 2010

40% of car buyers still feel they don’t know enough about electric vehicle technology to consider one for their next purchase.

However, the survey from online car retailer Cars.com found that more consumers would consider buying an electric car like the Chevy Volt (pictured right) than would definitely not consider it, 36% compared to 24% of those asked.

Cars.com Editor and Chief, Patrick Olsen, said consumer concerns were led by fears that cars would run out of power while out on the road, and that vehicles would not have a high enough range before requiring a recharge.
