Installers American Solar Electric to expand throughout Arizona

April 13, 2010
One of Arizona’s largest solar power installers has announced plans for a major expansion, driven by a new Central Distribution Facility in Phoenix.

Photovoltaic specialist American Solar Electric said it is already consolidating its warehouse and project-staging operations in the new facility on the city’s Broadway Road and 40th Street.

The company will use the new facility as a springboard to strengthen its presence in the north, west and south of the state as demand for rooftop solar systems continues to expand in all corners of the state.

It is planning on doing this through new regional Construction Facilities, matching the existing East Valley Construction Facility in Tempe with sites in the west, south and north of Arizona.

Centrally locating our warehouse and positioning our construction operations closer to our customers provides a great deal of flexibility” - Will Herndon, American Solar Electric

Sean Seitz, President and co-owner of American Solar Electric said: “Plans for expanding our operations have been in development for over a year and we believe making these moves will position the company for continued success in Arizona – now and into future years.”

Tucson

American Solar Electric, which has its headquarters in Scottsdale and has installed around 10 megawatts of solar systems so far, said the Tucson Metro Area in particular was a market that has grown “substantially” in recent years.

It is expecting to boost sales in the area with its new sales presence in Green Valley and a planned Tucson Regional Sales Office to be established mid-2010.

The new Central Distribution Facility in Phoenix will support operations in the Tucson area, but the company is also hunting around for a site for a possible Southern Arizona Construction Facility. It is looking at sites along the I-10 corridor on the northwest side of Tucson, and plans to co-locate sales and construction resources that the facility.

In the west of the state, the company is already planning a new West Valley Construction Facility, for which it is investigating several possible sites in the Goodyear and Glendale areas.

In the north of the state, the company is evaluating options for a construction facility to support the three-year-old Regional Sales Office in Prescott.

Prescott and Flagstaff as both possibilities for a site for a new Northern Arizona Construction Facility.

“Flexibility”

Will Herndon, Executive Vice-President of Construction and co?owner of American Solar Electric, said: “Centrally locating our warehouse and positioning our construction operations closer to our customers provides a great deal of flexibility and ensures that American Solar Electric’s value proposition to homeowners going solar is one of the best in the state.”

The company said it expects to hire a further 10 full-time staff in sales, operations and construction areas to support the initial phase of the expansion.

Long-term, the new facilities will require up to 50 new staff, the company said.

American Solar Electric, Inc., offers to carry out system design, permitting procurement, installation, interconnection and commissioning of solar photovoltaic systems for homes and home builders in Arizona.
