Indian Wells Civic Center to get $1.7m solar system

The California Energy Commission is providing a $715,000 loan with a 1% interest rate towards a new 197kW, $1.7 million solar photovoltaic system at the Indian Wells Civic Center in Riverside County. By switching to solar power, the $55,000-a-year energy savings alone are expected to pay off the loan within 13 years. The system will include four rooftop-mounted solar arrays. The City will also receive a $607,000 rebate from the California Solar Initiative towards the system.
