Fleet operators turning to hybrid electric vehicles

September 20, 2010

The nation’s fleet operators look set to buy more than 740,000 hybrid electric vehicles a year in 2015, according to Pike Research.

The consultancy based in Boulder, Colorado, said in a new report that fleet operators are finding the hybrids improve fuel economy and lower emissions compared to comparable internal combustion engines.

Growth rates in the global hybrid light-duty vehicle market are expected to be 17.5% from 2010 to 2015.
