September 13, 2010

The 2.17-kilowatt billboard in Grand Junction, CO

Colorado’s first solar-powered billboard has been unveiled in Gran Junction, Mesa County.

Located by the Lowe’s/Wal-Mart shopping center, the billboard is owned and operated by locally-based Colorado West Outdoor Advertising, with a solar system installed by local firm Syndicated Solar.

Using 12 solar modules made by Canadian Solar, along with Enphase Energy converters, it can supply up to 90% of the power needs for the billboard.
