The company said yesterday it is moving forward with the system impact study for the interconnection of its Weston Wind I project.
Located in Weston County, Wyoming, the wind project should generate enough clean energy to supply around 60,000 homes with electricity.
It is set to be linked into the Black Hills Power transmission system.
Wind Energy America said along with the interconnection study, it anticipates continued progress on “several” development milestones in the next several months, including permitting and power purchase agreement negotiations.
Brian Hill, CDO of WEA, said yesterday: “Advancing the interconnection process for Weston Wind I is a critical aspect of this wind project and we are pleased with the results we have received thus far.”
Wind Energy America, which has its corporate office in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, currently owns developer’s interests in three wind farms in southwest Minnesota, totaling 79 wind turbines and 53.46MW generating capacity.
It is also developing a 4MW project in Osceola County, Iowa, with 2MW already commissioned and the remaining capacity to be commissioned over the next few months along with a 1.6MW project in Lincoln County, Minnesota.
Along with Weston Wind I, the developer has three other active requests for interconnection of new wind farms to the grid, in Minnesota.
