Nevada Geothermal Power settles over Faulkner 1 shutdown

Canadian geothermal company Nevada Geothermal Power, Inc., has settled a legal dispute over the unexpected shutdown of its Faulkner 1 plant in Nevada.

Geothermal plant supplier Ormat has agreed to provide a cash sum, as well as power plant spares and extended warranties, after the 49.5MW plant failed in January.

The facility suffered a short circuit caused by a “faulty layout of underground cables”, NGP said.
