Plan to boost renewable energy grid access in Nevada

August 20, 2010

Plans for a high-voltage transmission project to open up access to renewable energy in northern and eastern Nevada have been announced.

Las Vegas-based NV Energy and Great Basin Transmission, part of New York firm LS Power, are to jointly build a new 500kV power line, subject to regulatory approval.

NV Energy will own 25% of the project, buying transmission capacity from Great Basin.
