August 9, 2010

The City of Dallas is set to save up to $7 million a year on a new electricity contract – while also supporting renewable energy projects.

It has agreed a 2.2 million megawatt-hour deal with utility TXU Energy that will provide funds for energy efficiency programs.

The contract also includes purchase of certified renewable energy credits from Texas wind farms, representing 40% of City authority’s electricity supply.
