The wind project located in Dewey County will comprise 95 Siemens 2.3MW turbines, along with three Siemens 3MW direct-drive turbines.
It was approved by state regulators last month (see this BrighterEnergy.org story) and looks set to begin construction later this year, for completion in the second half of 2011.
RES Americas has been working with local firm Arrowhead Wind Energy to develop the project, which now transfers ownership to OG&E, which will also operate the completed facility.
Commenting on his company’s first wind energy project in Oklahoma and for its partnership with OG&E, RES Americas Executive VP of Development Brian Evans said: “There is immense support for wind energy in the Sooner State, and we look forward to working with OG&E now and in the future to bring clean and sustainable energy to the people of Oklahoma.”
RES Americas, which has its head office in Broomfield, Colorado, has now constructed more than 3,800MW of energy projects, with a further 1,000MW under construction and more than 12,500MW in the pipeline including a number of sites in Oklahoma..
OG&E, which serves approximately 780,000 customers in a service territory spanning 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma and western Arkansas, is a subsidiary of Oklahoma City-based OGE Energy Corp. (NYSE: OGE), and also is the parent company of Enogex LLC, a midstream natural gas pipeline business with principal operations in Oklahoma.
