The new center in Abilene will provide a base for servicing wind farms in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico
Danish wind energy company LM Wind Power has opened its new North American regional service center in Abilene, Texas.
The center will serve as the southern operations base for the company’s wind turbine blade repair business.
It will provide service for wind farms in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico.
LM Wind Power’s new service and logistics unit, LM Wind Power Service & Logistics, will offer services out of the new center including inspection, repair, overhaul, preventative maintenance and blade logistics.
The Abilene/Sweetwater area has the nation’s highest concentration of wind turbine installations making Abilene an ideal location for LM Wind Power’s regional blade service business, it said.
Robert Burger, the firm’s VP of Service Americas, explained: “The new service center in Abilene, Texas is one of LM Wind Power’s six fully staffed North American service centers. More than 90% of the installed base of North American wind turbines are within less than eight hours’ drive for our skilled technicians from these six locations.
“This enables us to provide our customers with shorter response times and reduced mobilization fees for service calls,” said Mr Burger.
