Astrum installs largest residential solar array in Washington DC

July 12, 2010

The largest residential solar panel system in the nation’s capital was installed last week by Maryland-based Astrum Solar.

Washington DC residents Shelley Cohen and Mike Gala are aiming to become energy independent with their 11.96-kilowatt solar system using Ameresco solar panels.

The array boasts 52 solar panels, and is expected to generate 13,754 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, providing around 75-85% of the home’s electricity supply.
