Electrical contractor Rosendin Electric is providing 9.4 megawatts of solar generating capacity for schools in the Antelope Valley Union High School District.
The project is one of the largest school solar installation programs in California to date, and is expected to be completed in early 2011.
Rosendin’s solar division is supporting the engineering of the project as well as leading procurement and construction.
The project is being developed by Los Angeles solar firm PsomasFMG, which will sell the solar project to GCL Solar, part of GCL-Poly Energy.
Rosendin, which has its head office in San Jose, recently completed a 1.2MW solar array for the Mineta San Jose International Airport with partner Canadian Solar.
The employee-owned company is also in the process of completing solar projects for the Hollister Wastewater Treatment Project, Hollister Unified School District, San Ysidro School District and the Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona.
It is also installing a 5MW solar array for the Sunset Reservoir in San Francisco within the next two months, and along with the Antelope Valley project said it was scheduled to deliver 20MW of total capacity over the next 12 months.
“With the addition of the Antelope Valley contract, Rosendin Electric becomes one of the largest solar distributed generation EPC contractors in the West,” said Duncan Frederick, Director of Solar Operations for Rosendin Electric.
“We have always been committed to delivering alternative energy solutions, and we have an unprecedented track record in wind farm installation. With the addition of this project to our portfolio of solar projects installed over the past year, we are quickly building the same reputation for delivering solar power.”
Rosendin has expanded to Texas in April, with the acquisition of Austin-based KST Electric.
