Recharging station provider Coulomb Technologies has completed compatibility testing for its 240-volt CT2100 ChargePoint charging station with the Nissan LEAF.
California firm Coulomb, which has the largest established installation of networked charging stations worldwide, completed testing with the Nissan all-electric vehicle at the company’s engineering facility in Farmington Hills, MI.
It said the testing demonstrated that all Nissan LEAFs will be able to charge at any 240v CT2100 ChargePoint charging station in the United States.
Eric Noziere, vice president, Corporate Planning, Nissan North America, said: “Successful completion of tests with the Nissan LEAF and the ChargePoint station proved that this is a safe, reliable and convenient way for EV drivers to fuel their cars. We are also looking forward to collaborating on data interchange with the public ChargePoint Network.”
ChargePoint stations can be hooked up to a network to allow drivers to easily locate available charging ports, and receive status alerts on their vehicle’s charging by text or email.
The technology also allows charging station owners to set their own fees for charging, which can be set to deliver different prices at different times of the day to reflect the price of electricity.
The stations can also be set to offer free access to electric vehicle drivers.
Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies, said: “ChargePoint is rapidly becoming the brand of choice and we will soon be seeing thousands of our stations across the country. As these electric vehicles arrive we do not want there to be any question about vehicle compatibility. We are thrilled to have our first UL listed charging station that has been tested with the Nissan LEAF for compatibility.”
