Ethanol producers offered more efficient yeast product

June 21, 2010
Fermentation technology firm Lallemand Ethanol Technology has launched a new yeast product for ethanol producers.

Thermosacc GOLD is based on the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, selected to withstand the rigors of the fermentation process.

The yeast product has not been dried and has increased budding rates compared to conventional yeast, which allows for a faster process, according to its developer.

“Efficient”

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, company Lallemand said its new yeast product was designed to use sugars more efficiently, leaving less sugar and glycerol at the end of the fermentation process.

The company said this means increased yields and a more economic process.

Bill Nankervis, Lallemand general manager, said his company was continually looking to improve its products.

“Thermosacc GOLD allows plants to achieve incremental steps toward more efficient and profitable operations,” said Mr Nankervis.
