The Department of Energy has awarded a $99,900 grant to a New Jersey company to help improve the efficiency of its lighting panels and displays.
Universal Display Corporation produces light-emitting diode technology, which offers a big increase in efficiency over fluorescent lighting because energy is turned into mostly light, rather than unwanted heat.
The company now believes it can reduce the small amount of heat produced by its PHOLED system even further.
