WindPower Innovations acquires generator producer Energetic Drives

WindPower Innovations, Inc., of Queen Creek, Arizona, has acquired the generator and inverter manufacturer Energetic Drives LLC.
The acquisition extents WindPower’s activities in the wind sector alongside its existing subsidiary, the gearbox manufacturer XH Industries.
It said Energetic Drives would help wind farms cope with smart grid requirements, and is developing direct drive generators ranging from 10kW to 1.5MW.
