59 firms up for supplying biomass fuel for Wisconsin heating plant

May 26, 2010

59 businesses in Wisconsin have expressed interest in supplying biomass fuel for a heating project at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

The Charter Street project aims to convert a coal-fired heating facility into a plant run on 100% biomass, which could be anything from woodchips to switchgrass (see this BrighterEnergy.org story).

The plant will require 250,000 tons of biomass a year. A Request for Proposal is expected to be announced in August.
