Partnership offers solar power to companies for no upfront cost

May 19, 2010
San Diego company Envision Solar has teamed up with New Jersey firm American Clean Energy to offer solar power to organizations with no upfront cost.

Companies will be able to source their power from large-scale solar installations through a power purchase agreement, rather than having to finance the solar infrastructure themselves.

The partnership will provide the finance for commercial developments using Envision Solar’s systems, which include solar parking arrays and building-integrated systems.

As well as cutting air pollution, companies will also be able to protect themselves from rising electricity prices.

Envision Solar has already provided solar systems for organizations including Dell, Kyocera and the University of California.

Its new partner American Clean Energy specializes in providing solar energy to commercial and industrial customers through power purchase agreements, which are long-term deals to buy power.

Forward-thinking

Bob Noble, CEO of Envision Solar, said: “This partnership will open the door to a new wave of forward-thinking companies that will be able to secure their future energy needs in a cost-effective and easily-managed fashion. We look forward to this partnership bringing solar energy to a new generation of customers.”

Steve Morgan, CEO of American Clean Energy, added: “Envision Solar is the ideal partner for us because they have a proven track record of delivering the beautiful installations with cutting-edge technology that our customers are craving.”
