California ISO approves grid changes to boost renewable generation

May 19, 2010

The California ISO has approved two changes to help integrate more renewable energy resources into the grid.

The organization approved requirements for renewable generators to meet the same grid standards as conventional power plants, a move that should increase grid reliability.

And, the ISO also revised planning rules to allow transmission projects to be approved if they support state policies, rather than merely improving reliability or provide economic benefits.
